Description
On May 20, 1928, religious, civic, business, and academic leaders from throughout the state participated in the ground breaking of the new campus for Loyola University of Los Angeles in the Del Rey Hills of Los Angeles. The video opens with Fritz B. Burns on horseback, leading the parade of civic organizations for the approximately 10,000 people who attended the event. Brief images of the main dignitaries are seen after the conclusion of the parade, and include Harry Culver and the three who took turns breaking ground: Rev. Joseph Sullivan, S.J., president, Bishop John Cantwell of Los Angeles, and Archbishop Edward Hanna of San Francisco.
