Photograph of a general view of the Shangri-La Hotel, Santa Monica, ca.1940. The photograph features a light-colored multi-story building with a main entrance located in the building's corner. Its Art Deco architectural style slightly resembles a cruise liner which is accented by the look of two upper floors. The "Apartment Shangri-La Hotel" sign can be seen above the hotel's main entrance. In the extreme foreground, at left a tree can be partly seen. In the middle, at left and right, a number of passenger cars can be seen parked in front of the hotel. The hotel was opened in 1939.
