John Parrott was born in Fairfax Courthouse, Virginia in 1811. Was merchant active in trade along the Mexican coast, served as American consul at Mazatlan, was banker and capitalist. Built a country estate in San Mateo County on land bordering San Mateo Creek - a portion of which became Baywood subdivision.
