Hutchinson; Another pasted note: "California quail besides affording excellent sport for the hunter, is as appetising as the partridge - if less large. Sometimes when grouped on the ground - seven are killed - at one shot, with number six (handwritten) shot. Mongolian pheasants were introduced into Santa Clara valley some years ago. Wild pigeons and robins sojourn with us - only during the 'winter months'". Charles W. Coe,
