Description
"16745 Picking Olives," stereoview, presumably at Sylmar, California, Keystone View Company, circa 1910s. The image shows three laborers, presumably Latino, picking olives from ladders and on the ground from a row of trees. Each man has a bucket hanging on a strap over their necks. In the foreground is a stack of olive-filled crates, another crafte on the ground and an overturned bucket. In the distance, behind the large orchard, are mountains. It is assumed this is at the orchard of the olive company at Sylmar, but text on the reverse for an educational geography unit, while discussing broadly about olive cultivation, does not indicate the location. With very little soiling or rubbing, the condition is good.
