Photograph caption dated May 25, 1961 reads, "Van Nuys Missile Base command shift. Fresh from Pentagon duty, Lt. Col. Charles Cole, 9723 Delco Dr., Chatsworth (left), assumes command of Fourth Missile Battalion, 65th Artillery, from Lt. Col. Molloy Vaugh, 11951 Salem Ave., Granada Hills, in ceremonies Wednesday. The Nike-Hercules site, 14900 Victory Blvd., is designed to defend the northern half of the Los Angeles area from air attack."
