Description
Photograph of La Fiesta de Las Flores parade down Spring Street, looking north, 1903. Horse-drawn floats drive down the street that extends from the right foreground to the left distance. People crowd the sidewalks to observe the parade. According to a USCDL patron, "The location was between 1st Street & Court Street (the southern leg, that ran between Spring Street & New High Street-to Broadway). The likely position of the camera was the roof of the Schumacher Block, at the southern end (down near the Larronde Block)". The photograph features the following buildings and constructions: Hamburger Building (a large building at upper left) Bullard Block, (in the upper middle with conical cupola) Temple Block (visible to the left/north of Bullard) Downey Block (visible to the right of the Hamburger Building, sitting at an angle) and the Baker Block (a square cupola visible above the Downey Block).
