Photo--black and white: P&SR electric railway passenger car No. 67. An advertisement on side of car "Ship by Electric Overnight Freight Service." The P&SR offered overnight freight service to farmers who shipped fruit to the end of the line at the wharf in Petaluma. From Petaluma produce was loaded on to one of two paddle-wheel steamers, either the "Gold" or the "Petaluma." The boats traveled down the Petaluma River and across the bay to San Francisco. San Franciscians had fresh fruit on their tables the next day. This service was critical to the making of the local fruit industry.
