Description
Photograph of a view of "C" Street in Virginia City, Nevada, ca.1930. People dressed in nice clothing and hats crowd the center while others congregate in small groups throughout the length of the street. Columns support porches that shade the sidewalk and fences guard the second stories of several buildings on the left. Many of these buildings are made of brick and colored flags hang from their rafters to the opposite side of the street. One of these lines displays several miniature American flags while electrical lines extend from poles along the edge of the street. A horse and several automobiles can be seen further down where the people do not crowd the street. Picture file card reads "This city started in 1859 and became one of the wealthiest mining cities of the world. The tallest building opposite the telephone pole is the 'International Hotel' which for 25 years had the only passenger elevator in Nevada".
