"... ground breaking ceremonies for the $2 million Wonder World Shopping Center in the Southgate Commercial Park at Florin Road and the South Sacramento Freeway ... in foreground are Jackie Tipton, left, and Mrs. Ross Beale. Between them in background can be seen, left to right, Ross Beale of the Woodcrest Construction & Development Company, Inc., the contractor which purchased the land from Northern California Developers, Inc., and which will build the 113,000 square foot structure for lease by Wonder World; Clifford Grodin, a Wonder World executive; Vice Mayor Walter Christensen and County Supervisor Mike Malaki. Visible on the billboard behind the group is architect Melvin Reid List's sketch of what the center is expected to look like when it is completed"
