Photograph was edited for publication purposes Murder suspect, Miguel Montoya, left, leads Detective Sergeant George Murphy to the body of Charles Collier, 33, a close friend of Montoya's landlady, Mrs. Vertie Lee Baxter, 42, who was also booked on suspicion of murder. Photograph article dated August 9, 1962 partially reads, "The macabre tale which began July 22 ended early today when detectives and crime laboratory technicians found the body of Charles Collier, Los Angeles, in some bushes in the Santa Susana Mountains, about five miles north of Chatsworth. They were led to the scene by Montoya, 23, who reportedly confessed the killing Tuesday after extensive questioning by Foothill Division detectives. Police said the five-foot four-inch electronics worker told them he strangled Collier the night of July 22 after an argument in Mrs. Baxter's home, 12635 Judd St., Pacoima. Montoya who rents a room from Mrs. Baxter, said he attacked Collier, 33, 1674 W. 25th St., because he was threatening the woman."
