At the convention of the Associated Dancing Teachers of Southern California, Grover C. Abel and his wife, Julia Abel, show the dance steps for the "Boomps-a-Daisy", the newest dance craze to sweep America. First step (call no. 00059532): stand together, clap hands and smile at each other. Second step (call no. 00059534): clap your knees. Third step (call no. 00059535): whirl around and the gentleman accidentally bumps the lady who acts coy and surprised. Fourth step (call no. 00059533): the gentleman bends his knees in a bow and apologizes and the lady says "musn't do it again." But you can. Photo dated: Aug. 29, 1939.
