Title supplied by cataloger.; Photograph was edited for publication purposes. Photograph caption dated March 31, 1939 reads "Jackie Robinson, probably the fastest and most dangerous halfback on the Pacific Coast, is the 'motorized unit' of the Bruin blitzkrieg. He's the lad who gets the ball down the field in a hurry and into scoring position, usually after receiving a punt or intercepting a pass. On the above occasion, Jackie is seen dashing 43 yards into Stanford territory." The word 'speed' is printed in large capital letters on the right side of the photo. Long before he broke Major League Baseball's color line with the Brooklyn Dodgers, Jackie Robinson excelled in football at UCLA. During the 1940s, he also played professionally, with the L.A. Bulldogs (football) and the L.A. Red Devils (basketball).
