Description
This recording demonstrates a type of music that was being performed and created in Yolo county by a local family. All songs recorded live at the Wilds Family's Home Text from the album cover: "The Wild Family Orchestra has been playing music in Yolo County, California since the early 'Thirties. Their father, Fred Wild Sr., owned and operated the General Store in Zamora and inspired his children by playing trumpet, fiddle, accordion, harmonica, and other instruments. As a family orchestra the Wilds played for many a Saturday night dance, as well as parties, picnics, and weddings. Fred Sr. passed away in 1949, but the five children kept the band going. Another brother, Forest, who played saxophone, died in 1940 from a mosquito bite. Today [1979] the Wilds still play together in the fine, old-time traditional style and run the family farm as they have since 1931." - Aline Komsky-Crumb Side 1: Rienzi Two-Steo; Little Old Rag Doll (M.
