Title supplied by cataloger. E.C. Sessions, a real estate tycoon from Oakland California, organized the Oakland Fruit Vale Railway Company to service his newly subdivided districts of Diamond and Highland Park. Mr. Sessions invented a height saving design of double deck cars by placing the upper longitudinal seats directly on the clerestory of the first deck roof with a hangover built out over the letter board for the walkway to the seats. This walkway ended in spiral staircases to an open center platform. The Oakland Fruit Vale Railway Company owned 8 double-decker motor cars and 2 service cars, which operated a line of 10.5 miles. This early type of motor coach transportation shows a double-decker trolley; the upper deck, as well as the lower are filled to capacity with passengers. The sign on the side of this coach reads "Highland Park & Fruit Vale", and below that "California College, Beulah Park, and [illegible]" can be seen written in smaller letters.
