The theatre opened as the Yosemite Theatre on 3rd May 1929 with two days of vaudeville shows produced by local radio station KMTR. The Yosemite was designed by Kenneth Gordon in the Mediterranean style, with the auditorium set in a patio garden. After an extensive remodel in 1937, the name was changed to New Eagle Theatre. Then, in 1940, it became simply the "Eagle Theatre." Through the 1970s it was an 'adult' movie theater, until 1983, when it underwent another renovation to became an independent movie house. It closed its doors in 2001 and has served as a church building. The Eagle Theatre at 4884 Eagle Rock Blvd., at Yosemite Drive, in Eagle Rock. Next door (right) is a Mexzican restaurant.
