Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Mission San Jose de Guadalupe (St. Joseph of Guadalupe), ca.1870. A long, short adobe with terracotta roof tiles stands in front of two other buildings at center, its spackle having crumbled mostly off. A small, clapboarded shack is partially visible behind it with a sign that reads "North Hotel". A second, long, two-story adobe with similar roofing pictured standing perpendicularly still farther behind. Hills are visible in the left background. A wide, unpaved road stand in the foreground. A stage-style building with a balcony and matching porch can also be seen in the right background. Picture file card reads "Purchased from Terrill and Miller, 1909, 4005 17th St., Corner Market, San Francisco".
