Description
Photograph circa 1949 of the back of the Sacramento County Courthouse featuring sheriffs posing with their vehicles. Construction on the first county courthouse at Seventh Street and I began in 1850 and the building opened late in 1851, only to be consumed by fire the following year. A second courthouse built upon the ashes of the first burned in 1854, but the third incarnation of the Sacramento County Courthouse ramained in use for over fifty years until is was demolished in 1910.
