Description
Photograph of a portrait of Mrs. Katherine Tingley and her councillors at the Theosophis Institute at Point Loma, ca.1902. The photograph is composite, with the circular inset of Tingley's portrait in bust in the upper left corner. The group picture is taken on the porch of the Theosophist Institute, which is richly decorated with elaborate columns and arches,as well as tall, intircate windows. The group is composed of four men, one of which is seated, and three women, one of which is also seated. There are two men in what appear to be military uniforms behind and to the right of the group, standing with their hats in their hands. The picture file card notes that the Theosophist Institute was called "The home for the renewal of the lost mysteries of antiquity".
