Description
The photo caption printed in the Sacramento Bee on January 19, 1974 reads: "In this bird's eye view above the turbulent Sacramento River, Southern Pacific Co. tracks hang over the river waters at a spot between Castella, Shasta County, and Dunsmuir, Siskiyou County. The river had undermined the tracks and left twisted rails handing into the water in some places. At this location, however, the set of tracks hung gracefully above the swirling waters, much like a suspension bridge."
