Approximately seven months after both buildings were relocated in March, 1969, they were completely destroyed by fires, believed to have been set by arsonists.; The "Castle," a large Queen Anne revival style residence built around 1882, was originally located at 325 S. Bunker Hill Avenue.; Built in the 1880s and originally located at 339 S. Bunker Hill Avenue, the "Salt Box" was Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument #5. Looking out from the front porch of the "Salt Box" towards the "Castle," taken after both structures were relocated to Montecito Heights, Los Angeles. Structural stabilization and restoration work is underway on each structure, as indicated by the presence of the wooden frame (foreground) and the construction of a new cinder block foundation for the Castle (lower center).
