Description
Scope/Content: Account book kept by John Lowe of Unthank Hall, Derbyshire. The volume mainly consists of farm accounts for things such as rents, sheep raising, livestock feed, laborers' wages, building supplies and other miscellaneous transactions. It also includes some family birth and death information, including the burial expenses for John Lowe (d. 1793), as well as some medical recipes. One 1814 itemized bill for payment by John Lowe is laid in at the front of the volume and appears to be from a merchant named Hill.
Condition: Bound in original vellum, worn and stained but sturdy; vellum torn at foot of spine, but with no damage to text block.
