Description
"Old Lady Nyasa." Exterior view looking down at a paddle steamer berthed at a river bank. The Lady Nyasa II was a sixty foot paddle steamer, in service from 1879, for the African Lakes Corporation (ALC), which was formed in Glasgow in1877 by John and Fredrick Moir. The company had strong links with the Scottish missions in Blantyre and Livingstonia. The original Lady Nyasa was one of two vessels that Livingstone used to navigate the Zambezi and Lake Nyasa. ❧ Album containing photographs recording a voyage up the Shire River and scenes from the Livingstonia mission.
