In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], Vol. C, leaf 13. Two views of church taken in Feb. 1938, two views of demolition of church in March and April. Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento. "The old M.E. Church, which stood on the west-side of 6th street, bet - K & L street...It was dedicated May 13th, 1860, 8 years after the Methodist Episcopal congregation had seen its first brick structure destroyed in the great fire of Nov. 2nd, 1852, a few days before it was ready for dedication services."
