Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated August 14, 1954 reads, "Officer L. H. Bouey takes report of Mrs. Ruth Archbold on how gunman held her and three children as hostages in their Van Nuys home at 5457 Burnett Ave. in attempted 'long-distance' holdup of Columbia Studios in Hollywood. Mrs. Archbold was forced to call her husband, who is cashier for studio, and thug then demanded money be placed in sack on window sill for an alleged accomplice to pick up. Archbold daughter, Annelen, 10, left, and two playmates, Pamela Hutchins, 10, and Patricia Slattery, 8, were in house at time. Archbold sits on arm of chair. Studio rigged dummy package, but no one called for it, and gunman left just before police arrived."
