Photograph of a drawing by Edward Vischer of a night view of Indians on the banks of a river near the San Diego Mission, May 1, 1876. Several Indians are on the hilly right bank near dwellings erected near three tall palm trees. Others are in a canoe, others across the river on the flatter left bank. The mission is visible in background. The caption reads "Excursion of 1874", "Indian hovels at the palm group of lower San Diego Valley (the old Mission just visible in the distance) Canoes return from Mission." Image acquired? by C.C. Pierce around 1925.
