Description
The Namdaemun (or Sungnyemun) Great South Gate of Seoul appears here in a damaged, dilapidated state during the Korean War. A smaller Japanese colonial building is in the foreground. Built in the 14th century, Namdaemun is one of the Eight Gates of Seoul dating to a period when the city was fortified.
