Description: An issue titled as: Registration at Central Utah: 14-17, February, 1943. John F. Embree describes the his three days (February 14-17) at the Topaz incarceration camps in Utah, where he describes the composition of staff and residents and relates about his meeting with specific families and/or individuals.
The collection contains material used by Carey McWilliams in writing the book, Prejudice: Japanese Americans, symbol of racial intolerance (Little, Brown, 1944). It includes U.S. War Relocation Authority records, confidential reports, bibliographies, clippings and compilations of articles, legal papers, correspondence between McWilliams and Japanese American evacuees, relocation camp newspapers and other publications, two copies of his book, and five copies of the 1994 videocassette (40 min.), Something Strong Within.
