Photograph article dated December 17, 1949 partially reads, "The danger of stalking a suspect even under the most ideal of police conditions is rugged work, and when the conditions are not right, such a task calls for extreme heroism. Policeman John E. Sublette of the Valley Division had taken his family on a Christmas shopping tour. They were riding on Sepulveda Blvd., happy in the thought they would soon be at their Pacoima home. Then suddenly family man Sublette became Sublette the officer. In the policeman's code a peace officer is on duty 24 hours of the day. The policeman saw an automobile similar to one used by a holdup pair parked outside a food market."
