Photograph of a Hopi Snake priest at the pueblo of Walpi, Arizona, ca.1897. He wears a loin cloth, moccasins, several necklaces and a bracelet. His chest and face are decorated with white paint or dried mud. He holds an animal pelt in his left hand. He stands before a rocky wall near an adobe dwelling with an exterior ladder. A wood pile is visible at right.
