Photograph caption dated December 9, 1963 reads, "Margo Mia Mendenhall and Charlie MacArthur, both 3, give their approval of Christmas items for orphans abroad. Valley members helping with the project are from left Mmes. John Hopkins, president, Van Nuys, left; Ferdinand Mendenhall and James MacArthur." The article partially reads, "Each child in three orphanages abroad will have a brand new toy and filled stockings for Christmas thanks to 'Operation Handclasp' and the United States Navy and a group of Valley women. Blankets, clothing, 500 Mattel toys and other items will be delivered for International Orphans Inc. by 'Operation Handclasp.'"
