Carmel Mission View of Mission San Carlos Borromeo located near Carmel, Calif. Established in 1771, stone mission building built 1793 - 1797, closed in 1834 by the Mexican Government, and fell into ruin as it is seen here. Restoration began in 1884. Burrial place of Father Junipero Serra .
