Prize was presented by His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustav of Sweden. First awarded in 1991, the prize recognizes outstanding efforts on behalf of the world's water resources. The 1999 prize was awarded jointly to Morgan and Werner Strumm, Switzerland (deceased). Engineering and Applied Science. August 12, 1999
