Description
Children dressed in traditional costume pose in front of a mural during a block party in Echo Park. The mural was painted and dedicated in memory of a friend killed in a gang conflict. Theresa Powers designed the 30' x 18' acrylic mural, located on Echo Park Avenue at Duane Street, and painted it with neighborhood youth. The Elysian Heights Elementary Saturday Youth Program sponsored the project. It reads, "Will we still go back to being the same way?" Photograph dated August 23, 1997.
