Photograph caption dated September 30, 1957 reads, "Tel Cyr,left, of Escondido, lets Sandy Williams, 'Miss Race for Lives,' feel weight of trophy he won for breaking San Fernando Drag Strip gasoline-powered speed record during 'Race for Lives' benefit sponsored by Panorama City Kiwanis Club Carl B. Mason, president, is at right. Driving his 'Cyr-hopper' 400 horsepower dragster, Cyr reached 138.99 mph. Old record was 135 mph."
