Description
1989-1338. In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], Vol. D, leaf 4. View of a street with 5 story building dominating photo on the right; on ground floor awnings reach out beyond the windows; above are rectangular windows on floors 2, 3 and 4 with round-arched windows on 5th floor; about 3 businesses down is another large building; on left side the buildings are lower and 2 story structures; 1/3rd down the street is a horizontal sign advertising "Bicycles"; in distance is building with a cone-shaped roof and at end is a tower with a dome, topped by a lantern. Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento. "Ramona Hotel, right, erected in 1927. Corner bldg. Left, erected before 1855."
