Scope/Content: Interview with Mrs. Lillian Harris, the mother of Norman O. Houston, president of Golden State Mutual Life Insurance Company. The interviewer states that the interview took place from the living room of Mrs. Harris' home at 1833 W. 35th Place on Friday afternoon, May 6, 1949. At the time of the interview, Mrs. Harris was "75 years young". Mamie Spencer, librarian of Golden State Mutual Life Insurance Company introduces the interview. Mrs. Harris briefly reminisces about how she received the honor of "the mother of Golden State Mutual Life Insurance Company" by William Nickerson, Jr. at the suggestion of George A. Beavers, Jr. Much of the recording appears to be an audio letter from Mamie Spencer to her parents and Ms. Spencer reading or reciting assorted texts. The recording concludes with a partial reading or recitation of Psalm 23.
