Photograph of Reuben W. Borough, political activist and journalist. In the 1930s, Borough edited Upton Sinclair's EPIC (End Poverty in California) News. In the late 1940s, he was one of the founders of the national Progresive Party and of the party's California organization, the Independent Progressive Party. Borough ran unsuccessfully on the Progressive Party ticket for California Treasurer in 1950 and U.S. Senator in 1952.
