Photograph of fine teakwood and marble chair at Mission San Carlos Borromeo, Monterey, ca.1908. This chair was given to Father Serra by one of the Phillippine friars (?) at Mission San Carlos. The chair frame is made of dark teakwood, while the the seat and a circular part of the back are made of marble. The chair looks Asian in origin. The frame is carved into interlocking hooks and links of finely polished wood. The chair is sitting on the dirt floor. A plain wall is behind it.
