Description
Kashnor notes, "Shows California [as an island] and locates New Albion and Port Sr. Franco. Draco, also shows a good map of New Holland and part of the Coast of New Zealand." Shirley dates as 1666, states original atlas reference. Map can be seen in situ in RB 32671. Elaborately engraved map. Two cartouches, one Latin, one Dutch. Two polar submaps. Elaborate decoration, sun and moon, with birds and bats above, four season figures below, four windheads. Polar projection submaps. Prime meridian: Teneriffe. Relief: no.
