Text written under photo: "Twin Peaks Tunnel Eastern Portal 1917." View of the intersection of Market and Castro looking west at the Twin Peaks Tunnel Portal. Muni's outbound rails are in place; the inbound rails are still being laid, in the process crossing the United Railroads #8 line swinging from Market into Castro. Wheelbarrows and piled lumber are in evidence all around the construction site.
