Description
Photographic portrait of an Apache man with a shield and staff, ca.1880. A Native American man is pictured from head to toe, dressed in a decorative robe. He holds what appears to be a Native American shield by his hip in his left hand, while he holds a staff or spear upright with his right hand. He looks off camera to the left. He appears also to be wearing a vest, button-down shirt and bowtie underneath the robe. A painted wilderness scene is stretched out behind him, showing cracks in the paint.
