Description
This is a promotional video for the Lutheran Social Services of Illinois, recipient of the 1996 Peter F. Drucker Award for Nonprofit Innovation. The film, directed by Anne Watson, provides an overview of the Second Family Program, developed to help birth parents with acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) find supportive and stable families for their children. The video notes that Lutheran Social Services of Illinois was instrumental in the passing of the standby guardianship law in Illinois, which allows birth parents to retain custody of their children until they feel it is appropriate to transfer custody.
