Description
Photograph of the funeral procession of Owen Brown on Colorado Street looking east from Raymond Avenue in Pasadena, Los Angeles, January 10, 1889. A crowd of people interspersed with horse-drawn carriages make their way down the unpaved street, a marching band in the lead. To the right, what appears to be a feed store or public stables stands with still more horse-drawn carriages standing by it, looking in the opposite direction of the procession. To the left, a woman stands on the porch of the City Meat Market while a dog makes its way down the steps beside her. The spire of a church's bell tower can be seen at center in the background. Owen Brown was the third son of the famed fur-trapper John Brown, lauded for being an American patriot during the Mexican War in 1846.
