Text written under photo: "Clay Street 1873 near Sansome St." View is of the two-story E. Detrick & Co. store, purveyors of awnings, tents, hose, twines, wagon covers, bags, grain, and flour. Employees are arranged in front of store behind what appear to be stacked bags of flour and looking out of second story windows. Sidewalk is wooden.
