Description: Thousands of music lovers, including scores of society and civic leaders, jammed the Hollywood Bowl on July 5, 1960, as the amphitheater opened its 39th annual Symphonies Under the Stars. A typical Southern California summer evening brought a big crowd to the bowl for the gala opening.
