Photograph article dated July 20, 1961 partially reads, "Preliminary hearing for an Encino painting contractor charged with manslaughter in the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old boy has been set for Aug. 3 at 9:30 a.m. in Van Nuys Municipal Court. Raynor D. Winward, 49, was arraigned Wednesday before Municipal Judge Francis A. Cochran, who asked Winward to swear on the Masonic oath that he will appear for the preliminary hearing, in Div. 68. Bail of $5,000 had been recommended, but the judge set it at $1,000."
