Description
"Bird's Eye View of East Los Angeles, Cal.," published by The Rochester News Company, Rochester, New York, circa 1909. The image is a photographic view of the residential community taken from a nearby hillside and shows a railroad trestle bridge, houses and open space in the foreground. In the distance is a range of hills and then mountains behind. The area, northeast of downtown Los Angeles, was renamed Lincoln Heights, while a new area called East Los Angeles was created further south and east. There is an address, without a message, stamps, a cancellation and a postmark that appears to be dated 1909 October 13. With ink stains on the image, soiling and edge rubbing, the overall condition is good.
