Photograph caption dated September 11, 1963 reads, "The Studio City fire was worst of three which flared up Tuesday afternoon in Santa Monica Mountains." The article partially reads, "Firemen today mopped up three hillside fires in the Valley area which broke out in 100-degree heat and tinder-dry brush in the Santa Monica Mountains Tuesday...The most destructive of the three fires broke out first--at 1:42 p.m. in the Laurel Canyon Blvd., area. It blackened 60 acres of brush. The second exploded three miles east at Beverly Glen Blvd. and Deervale Dr. in Sherman Oaks at 2:49 p.m., seconds after firemen had halted the advance of the Laurel Canyon Blvd. fire.
