Description
La Cañada Tournament of Roses members Bob Neilson and Claire Slaughter are interviewed by former Lanterman Archivist Tim Gregory and former Lanterman House Director Melissa Patton. The Lanterman Oral History Collection consists of conversations with residents of La Cañada Flintridge who recount the history of the city, its community, and its institutions in the context of local history and on California history at large. The history and development of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory is recalled by two prominent scientists, Peter Breckheimer and Bob Covey. The legacy of notable local statesman Frank Lanterman is recalled by several interviewees, particularly with regards to local and California State water rights. Conversations discussing La Cañada's early history, cityhood, and the establishment of its school district are also strongly represented in the collection.
